Who Are We?

A well-established social service institution, formed with ihsan and sustained by compassion since 1990.

Our story

Rooted in Sri Lanka, reaching every community

The importance and formation of a well-established social service institution was deeply felt by some interested Muslim brothers of Sri Lanka who were employed in Saudi Arabia. Their initial efforts resulted in the formation of the Association of Muslim Youth of Sailan in 1990.

The Association gained full legal status — incorporated under the Registrar of Companies and registered under the Department of Muslim Religious & Cultural Affairs and as an NGO under the Ministry of Social Service. The first office of the Association was declared open at Borella on 29 July 1997. By the help of Almighty Allah, AMYS has shown rapid growth and has served the masses of Sri Lanka in numerous ways ever since.

Our Vision

To be an outstanding Islamic NGO in Sri Lanka, with the vision of alleviation of poverty, education for all, and the provision of basic amenities for those in need — in order to create a world where charity and compassion produce justice, self-reliance and human development.

Our Mission

To educate and develop the norms and values of Islam among Muslims so as to establish a future generation conscious of their belief and doctrine — and for them to serve the community independently.

Our aims

What we strive for

To educate the Muslims to understand Islam in its pristine pure form and to propagate the same among others.

To serve the community to develop their educational, social and cultural values and to guide them to gain formal and technical education so as to establish their talents and abilities.

To serve poor masses, help orphanages and organize social service activities.

To attain self-sufficiency in all our basic needs by developing and initializing all the available human resources.

To provide health services and educate, guide and disseminate vigilant knowledge of health education and hygiene.

To serve the victims of all natural disasters.

To develop close links with international social service institutions so as to gain mutual benefits.

To empower people in order to unleash their potential.
